Studio Project 3

For our third studio project, we were asked to separate ourselves into groups of four. We were then asked to create a site. The dimensions of the site had been given to us, the only thing we had to do was design it based on a movie of our choice. The movie was meant to guide our design concept, by analyzing the architecture depicted in the movie. Much like the previous project this part of our project 3 has taught me the importance of communication and time management.

With our design we wanted to make a proper study model of New York design with grid like buildings and the comparison between the older style masonry buildings and modern glass designs.

The next part of our project was to choose a client from a given list and design a 'hideout' for said client. From the list, I chose Salvador Dali, a famous surrealist painter. I was particularly fond of Dali's work even before joining Taylors, when I was doing my Art IGCSE's coursework. I decided to design a building that represents him as a person.

With this project it has taught me how to manage my time properly as well as help strengthen my model making skills. It has also help me better plan my boards and how to present my information properly.

Studio Project 2

For our second studio project, we were asked to form groups of four to six. We were then tasked to create a 'life capsule' for a specific client archetype. We decided to go for a more unconventional choice and decided on a meteorologist. The life capsule was meant to be a mini home or structure that the client would be able to live in for at least a day. When designing the capsule we would have to consider what our client would have to do in it, the sort of space he was looking as well as hobbies/activities that could make our clients stay in the capsule more pleasurable.

Unfortunately, parts of our model had broken off in the middle of transporting it to the presentation area.

This project has taught me the values of good cooperation between team mates as well as the importance of communication. It has also taught me the values of planning and using your time efficiently when doing your projects.

Studio Project 1

For our first Studio Project 1, we were asked to create an abstract model based on our own personalities. I chose to use a more poetic representation and went with 'Oppressed'. With this porject is has not only helped me understand who I am as a person and how I work, but also how to present my ideas more effectively to my clients. It has also taught me how to plan my work and manage my time efficiently.

This project has taught me how to present my information and ideas on a board more effectively.

Design Communication Project 2

For our second Design Communication Project, we were tasked to apply four hatching techniques onto a given picture. The techniques that I chose to use were stippling, cross hatching, scribbling and hatching.

This project has helped me understand how to properly use hatching techniques to help enhance my drawings. It has also helped me learn to control my tonal values as well as brushing up my hatching skills.

Design Communication Projects 1

For our first design communications project, we were tasked to choose 5 sites around Taylors University Lakeside Campus (TULC) and sketch. However, there was a twist, we were asked to also include a form of progression in our sketches as well as underlying theme in our sketches. For my sketches I decided to make a sketch starting from the architectural studio to the roundabout near Starbucks. My underlying theme was 'ever growing heights' with each setting's roof getting higher and higher.

This project has helped me brush up on my drawing skills as well as my understanding of perspective. It has also helped me plan the composition of my drawings to make it more interesting to the viewer.

Design Communication Projects 3

For our third Design Communication project, we were tasked to draw several orthographic drawings of Mies Van Der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion. These orthographic drawings were, Floor Plan, Elevation, Cross Section, Axonometric, One point perspective and Two point perspective. This project has helped me understand the various drawing techniques as well as proper inking methods to help explain my plans. It has also helped me understand 2 Dimensional drawings in 3 Dimensions to better understand the plans of the building.

Culture and History Project 1, 2 and 3

For our Culture and History Project it was split in to three relating parts. The first was to create an online forum about a historical building we were given. It would had to include any relevant information based on a certain topic that we chose from a list of topics in a group that was assigned to us by our lecturers. The second part was to transfer all the relevant information from our forum into a board to be presented to our lectures with our project 3, which was a abstraction model of our given historical building.

My group and I were given the Pantheon as our historical building.

With this project has helped me understand my given building and also how to properly present my information on a technological medium.

With my board it has helped me understand, extract and efficiently plan my presentational boards. It
